Schubeck Radius Lifters: An alternative to roller lifters.

The newest alternative to roller lifters is a modified flat lifter design called a radius lifter.  It will not run on a stock flat lifter cam nor will it run on a roller cam, but takes a specially ground radius lifter cam.  The lifter has a one directional radius ground onto the cam face end.  This radius increases the useable area on the face of the lifter without increasing it's diameter, by arcing the surface into what looks like a protruding radius.  The diamond ground and highly polished radius slides on the modified flat lifter cam lobe and uses a guide bar, bolted into the block, that has flat sides corresponding to the flat sides ground on the upper portion of the lifter to prevent the lifter from rotating in the bore.

Performance, as well as reliability, is enhanced primarily from the less stressful ride of the new valve train, the light weight lifter assembly and a loss in engine friction from the use of Schubeck's proprietary composite material.
