The Garlits movie: My choice was Martin Sheen to play Don and Charley to play Don as he was 20 years prior. So I arranged a dinner party at the Schubeck house in Malibu to introduce Martin & Wife to Don & Pat Garlits . Frederica (my wife at the time)and friend Carl Scheifer were also on hand.
“Hey Don Garlits, can you name that voice” after just one sentence on the phone, talking to my visitor, he guessed it. It was one of his favorites, June Allison. Who could mistake that voice anyhow.
Steve McQueen bought my 1943 pt-17 Stearman airplane for his first flight.
