Schubeck Radius Lifters
An alternative Solution
Another alternative to troublesome roller lifters is a new Schubeck design called Radius Lifters. They are apropiately named because of the one inch (1") radius ground onto the end that contacts the cam lobe. They should be thought of as modified flat lifters that slide accross the face of the cam lobe, much the same as typical flat lifters do, but with a protruding radius rising from the lifters flat surface.
The radius increases the useable area on the face of the lifter without increasing it's diameter. The diamond ground and highly polished composite material has a low co-efficient of friction and the ability to run against a steel camshaft without galling.
The radius lifters use eight (8) guide bars, held in place when studs are installed into the drilled and tapped holes, using Schubeck's drill & Tap Fixture. The D & T Fixture Kit also includes the studs, nuts and washers along with the drill & Tap. The guide bars are similar to the Factory's "Dogbone" system used to prevent the lifter from rotating in the bore. Both have flat sides surrounding and corresponding to the flat sides on the upper portion of the lifters as pictured.
Performance, as well as reliability is enhanced primarily from the less stressful ride of the new valve train, the light weight lifter assembly and a loss in engine friction from Schubeck's proprietary composite material.
1. INCREASE VOLUMETRIC EFFICIENCY WITH RELIABILITY.
2. NO NEEDLE BEARING ROLLER WHEELS TO FRACTURE!
3. MORE GENTLE LOBE SHAPE REQUIRES LESS SPRING.
4. LARGE RADIUS LOBE GIVE A LESS STRESSFUL RIDE.
5. CENTER HOLE OIL LUBRICATES AND COOLS THE CAM.
